Forgotten Melody : sketch and experiment .. !

Bonjour à tous !! 

Voici la première de mes fées musicales ou musiciennes !! Une fée violoniste ! :)

La musique tiens une place particulière pour moi et le violon encore plus car j'en ai joué quand j'étais plus jeune !

Pour ce dessin j'ai voulu essayer une technique inspirée par les conseils de Selina Fenech une de mes artiste préférée ( voici le lien vers son site si vous ne la connaissez pas encore elle crée des merveilles !! http://selinafenech.com/) qui consiste à changer la couleur du croquis dans les tons sépia ou sanguine et de l'imprimer sur du papier aquarelle afin que le dessin garde tous ses détails.. 

J'ai utilisé la très belle photo  [link] de comme référence pour la pose et le violon. Mais j'ai quelque  peu changé l'expression et les cheveux. 

 L'impression c'est très bien passée mais malheureusement malgré un temps de séchage de l'encre la couleur n'a pas prise et l'encre a bavé dans l'aquarelle.. J'ai donc travaillé sur le croquis final au crayon en passant avant la mise en couleur un fin trait d'acrylique indélébile sur les détails pour qu'il ne s’estompent pas lors de la mise en couleur ! :) 


Est- ce que vous avez déjà essayé une méthode similaire ? Des conseils, des avis ??? :)

Here's the sketch and sepia toned version of the first painting of my musical or musician fairies !!! A violonist !:) 

Music has always been important for me and especially the violin as I used to play this instrument when I was younger. 

I tried an experiment for this painting.. I wished to try a technique inspired by the art tips of one of my favorite artist Selina Fenech ( here's the link to her website if you didn't know her  http://selinafenech.com/ she's an amazing artist !!) which consists in changing the tone of the sketch to a sepia ink tone and to print it directly on watercolor paper. So your painting keeps all it's details ! :)

  I took the beautiful picture [link] from as a reference for the fairy pose and the violin. I changed her expression and her hair a little to match my idea.

The printing part was fine and the result looked great but even after waiting for the ink to dry it went bad as the ink mixed with watercolor when I applied the color.. I finally worked on the final graphite sketch, putting a thin line of acrylic on the details before applying the color so that the details didn't fade away ! :)

Did you ever try this kind or a similar technique ? Do you have any tips, advices ??

"The Morrigan" final sketch

All Hollow's Eve is approaching !! This is the final sketch of my coming new painting: "The Morrigan" ! 

I tried something more "conceptual" as I wished to focus on her face and to surround the figure with the Godesse's elements: the full moon and the raven.

"A door to Elphame" idea and sketch

Voici le croquis de mon nouveau dessin : "A door to Elphame"!

Dans le folklore Écossais Elphame désigne le royaume de féerie et la demeure de la reine des fées. La légende prétends qu'elle passe la porte vers le royaume de féerie assise sur un destrier blanc .. J'avais envie de la représenter sur une licorne je trouve que ça rajoute à l'aspect féerique ! Par contre c'est mon premier dessin de licorne en mouvement soyez indulgents !!! :)

L'arche sera un arc-en ciel qui est selon la légende une des portes vers le royaume de féerie ..

Que pensez vous de l'idée et du croquis ??

Here is the sketch of my new coming painting: "A door to Elphame" ! 

Elphame is the name used in Scottish folklore for the fairy realm, the home of the fairy Queen. 

The legend says she enters the door to the fairy kingdom on a white steed but I found a unicorn might looks more fairy-like ! It's my first drawing of a moving unicorn so please be indulgent !!!! :) 

The arch will represent a rainbow which is reputed to be one of the doors to the fairy realm .. 

What do you think about the idea and the sketch ??

Arianrhod Sketch

Voici  le croquis de ma prochaine peinture ! 

Il s'agit de la déesse galloise Arianrhod qui est la déesse de la lune et des étoiles, mais aussi du temps. Son nom signifie " roue d'argent" et elle est associée à l'aspect  "pleine lune" de la triple déesse chez les celtes.

Le sablier et les horloges dans le coin gauche représentent le temps et les phases de la lune.  Le symbole celte dans la pleine lune est mon interpretation de la roue d'argent d'Arianrhod.

J'espère que vous aimez l'idée et ce premier croquis !

J'essayerais de scanner quelques étapes de la mise en couleur !

This is the sketch of my future painting ! 

It is my interpretation of the Welsh goddess Arianrhod, goddess of the moon, the stars and of time. 

Her name means " silver wheel" and she is the mother and full moon aspect of the celtic triple goddess. 

The hourglass and the clocks on the left hand corner represent the time and the phases of the moon. The celtic pattern inside the full moon is my representation of Arianrhod's silver wheel.

I hope you like the idea and this new sketch !
